Every artist takes the same three steps. It isn't about proving yourself — it's about us getting to know you properly, and making sure this is genuinely the right fit for both of us.

Application
Complete the application form below. Tell us about your experience, your specialism, bridal or otherwise, your kit, and your work. Submit your portfolio. Every application is reviewed personally by Shair.

Review
We review your application and portfolio personally, and get back to you within 10 working days. If we genuinely feel you're a great fit, we invite you to our Showcase event. If the timing isn't right yet, we'll let you know warmly, and the door always stays open.

The Showcase
An invitation-only event where shortlisted artists come together to show us their work, live. You'll work on real models, meet Shair and the team, and get a real feel for what The Make-Up Box is about. Those who are approved walk away as Associates.

When a client books a Make-Up Box Associate, they expect exactly the same standard they'd get from us directly. These are the things we look at, not to catch you out, but to make sure we're genuinely the right fit for each other.
Technical artistry
Your technique across foundation, eyes, lips, contouring, finishing, ensuring real consistency across every skin tone and face shape.
Insurance
Full, current public liability insurance is simply mandatory. No exceptions. It protects both you and your clients.
Hygiene standards
Professional sanitation, always — brush cleaning, single-use tools, spotless product hygiene and workspace standards.
Kit quality
Professional-grade products and tools. Your kit reflects your standard, we look at what you use and why.
Professionalism
How you present yourself, how you communicate with clients, your punctuality, and your conduct, every single time.
Portfolio
A body of real work, bridal included, that demonstrates range, consistency, and the standard we expect every Associate in our directory.

The Showcase is an invitation-only event, and honestly, one of our favorite days. A group of exceptional artists coming together, showing their work, meeting the team, and getting a genuine feel for what The Make-Up Box is really about. It's professional, it's warm, and it's genuinely exciting. This is where we truly get to know each other, properly.
You'll work on a real model and demonstrate your technique, live
We'll review your kit and hygiene setup closely, in person
You'll meet Shair and the team, and we'll genuinely, properly get to know you
Those who pass are approved as Associates, and properly onboarded
Dates and locations will be confirmed personally the moment you're invited
What happens after approval
Your own profile page on the Make-Up Box website - photo, bio, gallery, location, and specialism.
Referrals from The Make-Up Box whenever we can't fulfill a booking personally.
The Make-Up Box Associate badge - wear it across your own platforms and marketing.
Priority access to Academy training and ongoing professional development.
Access to the Associates community - a network of approved professionals.
